The book will detail Burdon's five decades in the music industry.

"I'm writing this book to help myself remember the past, acknowledge the present and help the new generation to discover their own truth," Burdon, 71, said in a statement.

The singer is known for fusing blues music with 1960s British rock and roll. Burdon rose to prominence with The Animals when they scored a number 1 hit with "The House of the Rising sun" in 1964. Following a series of break-ups and reunions, the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

Burdon's latest solo work, "Till Your River Runs Dry", was released in January.

The title of his memoirs will be "Breathless".
