Emotional Meat Loaf delivers passionate Q Hero acceptance speech
Meat Loaf delivered an emotionally charged acceptance speech when he received his Q Hero trophy in London last night.
In the capital to promote Jim Steinman's Bat Out Of Hell - The Musical, the rock icon attended The Q Awards bash at The Roundhouse to pick up one of the biggest honours of the night for his services to music.
Arriving on stage to a rapturous reception, Meat Loaf fought back tears as he delivered his passionate speech.
'Thank you guys, you are so nice,” he said. “A few years ago Q had me on their cover and they asked if I was the new king of rock and roll, a hero. Let's think about that for a second.
“What is a hero? I know we all have them, but a hero is someone who does something good for someone every day.
“You do whatever you can to bring love back into this world, because folks we need it... Thank you all very much.”
Other winners at The Q Awards last night included U2 (Q Best Live), The Edge (Q Gibson Les Paul Award), Muse (Q Best Act in the World Today) and Ray Davies (Q Classic Songwriter).
