Eight Tracks Down For Kinks Album

Mick Avory reveals the band will use unreleased archive tracks alongside new material

The Kinks’ new album will feature a mixture of archive and new material, it has been revealed.

Speaking to Spinner, the band’s drummer Mick Avory revealed that the band already had eight archive tracks partially completed and ready for the album while they would – hopefully – reconvene to write and record a handful more.

"Things are always bubbling under or over with the Kinks -- I'm never quite sure if we're going to do them or not. We are certainly doing another album. We've got old tracks which need to be baked. You have to go through this process to transfer them to digital, it's a bit of a process and you only get one shot at it.

The drummer confirmed, "We've certainly got eight tracks we could use there, so we're going to have to do some more to make the numbers up for an album."

The problem with any reunion rests in the relationship between the Davies brothers, whose long-term feuding has prevented reunions in the past.

However, Ray Davies recently revealed that his relationship with his sibling was better now and that the only thing holding them back was Dave Davies’ health.

Any news on the new record, we’ll let you know.
