Eagles and Fleetwood Mac are co-headlining new festival this summer
Two of rock music’s most iconic acts, Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, are co-headlining a new bi-coastal US festival.
Classic East and Classic West will take place at Citi Field in New York and Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles this July with each leg taking place over two days.
Alongside the blockbuster headliners Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, there will be a smorgasbord of supporting acts across the two days.
Although there is yet to be an official announcement unveiling the festival, both Rolling Stone and Billboard have confirmed with sources that the events are definitely taking place.
For Eagles, it’s likely to be a highly emotional event as the Californian rockers haven’t performed a full concert together live since Glenn Frey’s untimely passing in January 2016.
Eagles members Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Bernie Leadon and Timothy B. Schmidt did join Jackson Browne for a tribute to their deceased bandmate at the 2016 Grammy Awards ceremony.
However, in a June 2016 interview Henley confirmed the apparent dissolution of the band saying: "I think (The Grammys) was an appropriate farewell. I don't think you'll see us performing again."
According to a source quoted by Billboard, Classic East and Classic West are Fleetwood Mac’s only planned shows of 2017 so far.
The British-American band are involved in a series of projects in 2017, including the 30th anniversary reissue of ‘Tango in the Night’ and an album of duets by members Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie.
Fingers crossed some UK shows follow soon.
