In a Facebook post on Monday (7th January), which has since gone viral, The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba say they pulled over the unnamed man for driving at 145kmh (90mph) – well in excess of the speeding limit.

In a bid to mitigate his speeding, the driver then claimed that he only sped up when ‘Kickstart My Heart’ started playing on the radio.

His attempt to blame the Mötley Crüe classic proved futile and he was still slapped with a fine of $639 (approx £380).

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police wrote: “This driver’s excuse for going 145kmh? Kickstart my Heart by Mötley Crüe was on the radio.

“Funny enough, our officer knew he was telling the truth, since he was also listening to it - just at a much slower & safer speed. Fined $639. #noexcuses #AlwaysGotTheCopsComingAfterMe”

Last September, Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil confirmed they had reunited to record four new songs together for the upcoming Netflix biopic ‘The Dirt’ based on their infamous 2001 collaborative autobiography ‘The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band’.

Vince later clarified Mötley Crüe’s future in the wake of their swansong tour in 2015, writing: “For those of you who don’t understand, yes “the boys” means Motley and we signed a contract not to tour anymore. We never broke up or said we would never make music again. Hope this clears it up.”

Directed by Jeff Tremaine from a screenplay by Rich Wilkes, The Dirt stars Douglas Booth as Nikki Sixx, Machine Gun Kelly (real name Richard Colson Baker) as Tommy Lee, Daniel Webber as Vince Neil and Iwan Rheon as Mick Mars.

Principal production started on the biopic in February 2018 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

After 34 years and more than 100 million record sales, Mötley Crüe called it a day (in the live arena at least) on 31st December 2015 with a show at The Staples Centre in their native Los Angeles.
