Doro and Rob Halford record 'very heavy' cover of Bonnie Tyler's 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'
Their take on the Jim Steinman penned classic
Doro Pesch and Judas Priest’s Rob Halford have recorded a “very heavy” cover of Bonnie Tyler’s classic 80s power ballad ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart.’
Written and produced by the late-great Jim Steinman, ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ was a Number 1 smash on both sides of the Atlantic for Bonnie Tyler upon its release in 1983, and it remains one of her signature songs.
In a new interview with SiriusXM's Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk, Doro revealed that her cover of ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ with Rob Halford is the final track on her upcoming album ‘Conqueress - Forever Strong And Proud.’
The album also boasts Doro’s version of Judas Priest’s ‘Living After Midnight’ with Rob Halford, which premiered last month.
Commenting on ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’, which is produced by Judas Priest guitarist and producer Andy Sneap, Doro said: “Rob Halford sounds so great on it. It's, like, wow! It's definitely one of my absolute favourite songs of this album, and it sounds really, really special."
She added: “It's very heavy, but it sounds great. I think it's a killer version. I always get goosebumps when I hear it. And I think other people who heard it, they thought, 'Wow!'”
Doro also confirmed she’s recording a music video for ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ that will premiere to coincide with the release of ‘Conqueress - Forever Strong And Proud’ on Friday 27th October.
A description of ‘Conqueress - Forever Strong And Proud’ reads: “Conqueress is the result of intensive hard work that took the incomparable singer and songwriter back to studios in Miami, New York and Hamburg, amongst others.
“The album presents Doro at the height of her creative powers."
