Donald Trump defies Queen by entering Republican Convention to We Are The Champions
Donald Trump has contravened Brian May’s wishes by entering the Republican National Convention to Queen’s ‘We Are The Champions’ last night (18th July).
The ever-divisive Presidential hopeful controversially started using the Freddie Mercury penned 1977 anthem as his theme song on television appearances last month apparently without seeking permission.
In response, Brian May released a statement on his official website, saying: “I can confirm that permission to use the track was neither sought nor given. We are taking advice on what steps we can take to ensure this use does not continue.
“Regardless of our views on Mr Trump’s platform, it has always been against our policy to allow Queen music to be used as a political campaigning tool. Our music embodies our own dreams and beliefs, but it is for all who care to listen and enjoy.”

Casting aside Brian’s wishes, Trump and his wig defiantly walked onto the Quicken Loans Arena stage in Cleveland through theatrical smoke with the sounds of ‘We Are The Champions’ echoing around the venue.
Political pundit Chris Cillizza commented in response: “My guess is that Freddie Mercury would not likely have been a Trump supporter.”
Of course, Queen aren’t the first act that Donald Trump has upset by hijacking their music.
Back in May The Rolling Stones urged Trump to stop using 'Start Me Up' and 'You Can't Always Get What You Want' at his rallies, while in October 2015 Steven Tyler sent a cease-and-desist letter to Trump’s campaign team after Aerosmith’s ‘Dream On’ was played at an event.
Similarly, Bernie Sanders supporter Neil Young was enraged when 'Rockin' In The Free World' was used at a Denver rally in June 2015. On that occasion, Trump agreed to stop using the track.
