Dolly Parton shares cover of Tom Petty’s ‘Southern Accents’
It’s taken from a country tribute to Petty
Dolly Parton has shared a cover of Tom Petty song ‘Southern Accents’ on YouTube.
The country superstar is fresh from her 2023 ‘Rockstar’ album, which saw her collaborate with a host of rock stars including Steven Tyler, Joan Jett, Rob Halford, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
The new cover is part of an upcoming tribute album titled ‘Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration Of Tom Petty’.
The album will see a collection of country artists covering Petty classics.
Besides Parton, musicians on the album include Willie and Lukas Nelson, Steve Earle, Rhiannon Giddens, Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Wynonna Judd, Midland, Margo Price and Thomas Rhett.

“I was fortunate enough to get to know Tom over the years,” Parton said of her own participation.
“He’s such an iconic artist and important songwriter. I’m so honored to be a part of this special album and to be able to share my version of one of Tom’s best songs, ‘Southern Accents.’”
‘Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty’ is due for release on June 21 via Big Machine Label Group.
