Derek Trucks Band On Hold
Allman Brothers Band guitarist puts his own band on ice for the forseeable future
Allman Brothers Band guitarist Derek Trucks has put his Derek Trucks Band on hold indefinitely while he works on other projects.
With the Allman Brothers Band also on hold while Gregg Allman recovers from a liver transplant, Trucks has decided to rest his own band for the time being.
"We're going to take a break for a few years," he told Jam! Showbiz. "We're not gigging at all this year, and possibly next year."
Fans of Trucks need not fear though, he won’t be entirely incognito. He’s just released new double disc live album Roadsongs, and he’s got a new collaboration album on the way with jazz legends Herbie Hancock and Dave Brubeck. Plus he’s working with his wife, Susan Tedeschi – a blues artist in her own right (Trucks beat her at this year’s Grammys in the Best Contemporary Blues category) – on a new album.
