Def Leppard’s Vivian Campbell to be honoured with Legend Award in Belfast
County Antrim born Vivian Campbell is to be awarded the Oh Yeah Legend Award in Belfast this November.
The honour, which runs alongside the annual NI Music Prize, recognises the exceptional contribution of a musician or music industry figure from Northern Ireland.
Viv will be presented with his gong shortly before Last In Line play a special Legend Award show at Belfast’s Mandela Hall on Saturday 11th November.
The one-off Last In Line show serves as the culmination of the Sound of Belfast Festival, which runs for 10 days.
Viv is being honoured for his quarter-of-a-century tenure with Def Leppard together with his work with Dio, Lou Gramm, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Riverdogs, Last In Line, Clock, Shadow King and Sweet Savage.
He commented: “I've been very fortunate that my life's work has also been my passion. It's an honour to be recognised for that, and especially so when that recognition comes from my fellow countrymen.”
Oh Yeah centre chief executive officer Charlotte Dryden added: "Vivian Campbell is a global rock name, he's fully deserving of this award, rock has played a massive role in the story of music in Northern Ireland and Vivian is one of the trail blazers."
Previous recipients of the Oh Yeah Legend Award include Gary Moore, The Undertones, Therapy?, Henry McCullogh and Stiff Little Fingers.
