Def Leppard dedicated their 2022 song ‘This Guitar’ to Queen Elizabeth II on the final night of their North American stadium tour.

The Sheffield rockers were midway through their set at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Friday night (9th September) when frontman and Planet Rock presenter Joe Elliott addressed the audience as a giant Union Jack appeared on the screens.

Joe said: "We're gonna dedicate this, because we don't have any songs specifically that refer to the circumstances, but we're gonna dedicate this one anyway to the memory of Queen Elizabeth II, our monarch for (70) years, who passed away yesterday.

“God bless her. May angels sing her to her rest, as her son said on the TV this morning. For her we'll do this one. This is called 'This Guitar'."

Def Leppard’s show at the Allegiant Stadium was the final night of their three-month Stadium Tour with co-headliners Mötley Crüe, plus Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.

Britain’s longest reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II died peacefully on Thursday afternoon (8th September) aged 96.

Back in June, Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen seemingly confirmed they have plans to join forces with Mötley Crüe and co. again.

Asked by Chile's Radio Futuro if Def Leppard have any live dates in South America in the pipeline, Collen replied: "Definitely. Obviously, this year we're touring the States with Mötley Crüe, Poison and Joan Jett.

“But the tour is gonna be three years — at least three years — for the album (‘Diamond Star Halos’). Definitely next summer is gonna be Europe. And then South America, Australia and Japan — next year, hopefully at some point, we'll be playing all of those markets."

Commenting on whether the same bands from the Stadium Tour will be involved, Collen replied: “That's what they're talking about. Obviously, I can say, 'Yeah, let's do that,' but we've gotta ask them as well. But I think Mötley Crüe have signed up. So hopefully that's all gonna come, and Joan Jett and Poison. That would be amazing."

In August, Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx also confirmed they’re planning international dates in 2023, including the UK.

When a Twitter follower asked Sixx about Mötley Crüe’s future live plans, he replied: “We are working on SA-Mexico-Europe-UK-Asia- etc.”
