Def Leppard meet Deaf Leopards

Def Leppard have met up with teenage American Football team Arkansas School for the Deaf Leopards following a successful online petition.

Cary Tyson from the school launched a change.org petition earlier this year calling on the Sheffield rock icons to pose for a photo in front of the Deaf Leopards' scoreboard ahead of their Verizon Arena show in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He wrote: “Help me convince the band to take a band photo in front of the scoreboard by signing this petition. Bring attention to a school that deserves it and does great work as well as a great band.”

The genial gents that they are, Def Leppard graciously agreed to have a photo taken with students from the school – much to Cary’s delight.

Breaking the news, he wrote on Tuesday: “While (Def Leppard’s) schedule doesn't get them in town in time to get to the school, they've agreed to take a picture with the students & a large replica of the scoreboard at Verizon Arena. What great community spirit! We're lucky to have them.

“We are tremendously grateful for their time, thoughtfulness and promotion of the good work at the school.”

Def Leppard singer and Planet Rock DJ extraordinaire Joe Elliott told us: “It was destiny, as we’ve known about them for a while now!”

Both Def Leppard and the Deaf Leopards shared photos of the meet up last night with school members also attending the sold out Verizon Arena gig.
