The band will be participating in the forthcoming Record Store Day, which helps celebrate independent record stores around the world. Bands who support the cause released super-limited edition singles and albums to help drive traffic through record store doors on one particular day each year. Last year saw limited releases by the Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Them Crooked Vultures and hundreds of other bands.

Darker Than Blue reports that Deep Purple will contribute to the cause this year, issuing a double A-side 7" single containing previously unreleased versions of Hush and Speed King from 1969.

The single will be a Mk 1 and Mk2 double header, with Hush – recorded for Chris Grant’s Tasty Pop Sundae in early 1969, and Speed King, recorded for Stuart Henry’s Noise At Nine in October the same year. Both tracks will appear on a forthcoming Deep Purple BBC Sessions album which is released in a couple of months.

There are only 1400 copies available worldwide.
