Venerated actor and chart-conquering singer (in Germany and Austria at least), David Hasselhoff, has unleashed a heavy metal song called ‘Through The Night’.

Clocking in at just over three-and-a-half minutes, ‘Through The Night' is a collaboration between The Hoff and Austrian duo CueStack and it sounds not too dissimilar to something from the Eurovision Song Contest.

The single was announced last month, and CueStack launched a Kickstarter to fund a new music video. Testament to The Hoff’s enduring popularity, the campaign was an emphatic success and 492 backers donated €19,654, obliterating the €6,000 target.

Behold CueStack and David Hasselhoff’s ‘Through The Night’ video:

Of course, ‘Through The Night' isn’t 68-year-old David Hasselhoff’s first flirtation with rock and heavy metal music.

In September 2019, The Hoff released a new studio album called ‘Open Your Eyes’ that featured a cover of Whitesnake’s seminal anthem ‘Here I Go Again’ featuring L.A. Guns’ Tracii Guns, plus a rocking version of Neil Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline’ with guest performer Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen.

Elsewhere on the record, Todd Rundgren appeared on Hasselhoff’s new version of Ted Mulry Gang’s ‘Jump in My Car’, Billy Idol and Deadland Ritual axeman Steve Stevens guested on a cover of Modern English’s ‘I Melt With You’, and Tyler Bates featured on a unique version of David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’.

Asked by Deutsche Presse-Agentur why he was embracing rock and metal on the album, The Hoff humbly replied: "Why not? Because I can. Because I want to." Fair enough.
