David Coverdale delivers Whitesnake Christmas message in Santa outfit

Whitesnake lynchpin David Coverdale has embraced the festive spirit by wearing a Father Christmas outfit for the band’s annual holiday message.

Flanked by two Christmas trees and wearing a resplendent black suit, the one-minute clip opens with David Coverdale wishing fans a happy Christmas.

“Hi, I’m David Coverdale wishing you and yours and all our followers on whitesnake.com, on Instagram and Twitter a very happy, healthy, safe and wonderful holiday season, and a blessed 2021. We love you dearly. Stay safe and well, we need you.”

Saltburn-by-the-Sea’s most famous son then clicks his fingers in the video and he’s miraculously bedecked in a full Santa outfit as he continues his Christmas message and proceeds to flog some Whitesnake merchandise including a scarf and their albums ‘The Rock Album’, ‘Flesh & Blood’ and ‘Love Songs’.

Whitesnake were due to play a seven-date UK arena tour in May and June 2020, however the band’s entire European and US trek was axed in March as David Coverdale needed to undergo surgery for a bilateral inguinal hernia. The tour would not have proceeded anyway due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Whitesnake released their 13th studio album, ‘Flesh & Blood’, to the world back on Friday 10th May 2019 via Frontiers Music Srl, and they rocked Download Festival in June of that year.

In August, the 1990 line-up of Whitesnake - David Coverdale, Steve Vai, Adrian Vandenberg, Rudy Sarzo and Tommy Aldridge – reunited for a Q&A to coincide with the streaming their ‘Live At Donington’ concert film on YouTube.

Whitesnake headlined a Monsters of Rock line-up on 18th August 1990 that also featured Aerosmith, Poison, The Quireboys and Thunder.
