David Bowie's son on Burning Man ashes story: 'Dad would've preferred Skegness Butlins'
David Bowie’s son Duncan Jones has rubbished reports that claimed his dad’s ashes were scattered at Nevada festival Burning Man.
American celebrity gossip site E! News quoted a completely fabricated source who said a portion of Bowie’s ashes were taken to the Black Rock Desert event by the singer’s godchild with the blessing of his widow Iman earlier this month.
Apparently David had picked the spot for its “spiritual” vibes with the bogus source adding: "David's godchild and David had long talks about Burning Man and what it stands for, and David loved the message behind it.”
Now, Bowie’s son, Moon and Warcraft director Duncan Jones, has shot down the made-up story and joked his dad would have preferred a certain Lincolnshire seaside destination.
He wrote: "That Burning Man thing? What people will do & say for attention never ceases to amaze me. Not true. Kind of a gross claim as well. sigh.
“We all know if dad DID want his ashes scattered in front of strangers, it would be at the Skegness Butlins. ;)"

As reported yesterday, David Bowie’s final three studio recordings 'No Plan', 'Killing A Little Time' and 'When I Met You' are set to feature on an album of songs from Bowie’s Lazarus musical.
Released on Friday 21st October, the 2CD/3LP 'Lazarus Cast Album' boasts the cast’s interpretation of 18 Bowie classics together with a handful of songs performed by Bowie himself.
