The Hanukkah Sessions continues
Last updated 2nd Dec 2021
Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters producer Greg Kurstin have covered Van Halen’s ubiquitous anthem ‘Jump’ on the fourth night of their Hanukkah Sessions series.
Back for a second year in 2021, the Hanukkah Sessions sees Grohl and Kurstin cover songs by Jewish artists on each of the eight nights of Hanukkah.
The pair kicked off the series on Sunday with a blistering death metal cover of Lisa Loeb’s ‘Stay (I Missed You)’, and since then they’ve covers Barry Manilow’s ‘Copacabana’ and The Ramones’ ‘Blitzkrieg Bop.’
Last night (1st December), Grohl and Kurstin shared a Keytar-tastic cover of Van Halen’s ‘Jump’ in honour of the band’s wild and energetic frontman David Lee Roth.
Grohl and Kurstin wrote: “Quite possibly the loudest and proudest of hard rocking Jews, David Lee Roth has gone on record crediting his Bar Mitzvah preparation as his earliest vocal training.
“He became a rockstar the day he became a man: Diamond Dreidel DLR and Van Halen...with ‘Jump.’”

Earlier this week, Foo Fighters axed a US stadium show in Minneapolis just three hours after the concert was announced.
The band announced a huge summer 2022 North American stadium on Tuesday, which takes in 17 cities across May, July and August 2022.
However, just a few hours later Foo Fighters released a statement confirming the Minneapolis, Minnesota show at the 50,000 capacity Huntington Bank Stadium is no longer going ahead.
"Due to Huntington Bank Stadium's refusal to agree to the band's Covid safety measures, Foo Fighters are unable to perform at that venue," the band wrote.
"We apologise for any inconvenience and are working on finding a suitable replacement — one that will prioritize the health and safety of everyone working and attending the show."
The venue said they were unwilling to change their existing protocols for just one show.
