Dave Grohl Reunites With Nirvana Bandmate

Krist Novoselic plays on the new Foos album

Dave Grohl has recruited his former Nirvana bandmate Krist Novoselic for the new Foo Fighters album.

NME reports that Novoselic plays bass on one of the songs on the as yet untitled forthcoming studio album. Details aren’t exactly forthcoming (apparently he "came in the other night and played bass on a song") but it’s something of a Nevermind reunion with  Butch Vig already announced as the album’s producer, as he was on the classic grunge album.

"The last month and a half we've been in my garage recording totally old school analogue with Butch Vig," Grohl told the BBC. "This whole project has been really cool because I haven't made a record with Butch in 20 years, almost exactly 20 years."

Grohl went on to say that the record is the heaviest that the band have recorded and that they have finished seven of the album’s songs, and have around five or six more to complete before it is ready.

The album is expected to be released in the spring.

The Foo Fighters announced their first comeback shows earlier this week. They are due to play two shows at Milton Keynes Bowl in July.
