Crowdfunding campaign launched to pay for Chuck Mosley’s funeral
A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to pay for the memorial service of former Faith No More singer Chuck Mosley.
Chuck’s family announced over the weekend that he died on Thursday 9th November “due to the disease of addiction.”
They added: “We’re sharing the manner in which he passed, in the hopes that it might serve as a warning or wakeup call or beacon to anyone else struggling to fight for sobriety. He is survived by long-term partner Pip Logan, two daughters, Erica and Sophie and his grandson Wolfgang Logan Mosley. The family will be accepting donations for funeral expenses. Details to follow when arranged.”
Douglas Esper, a close friend and band mate of Chuck’s, has now set up a Gofundme page seeking money for a memorial service. He also said he hoped there would be “a large scale, loud, bright, beautiful concert to celebrate the music (Chuck) gifted us” at some point in the future.
His full statement on Gofundme reads: “Chuck Mosley enriched, entertained, saved, changed, and otherwise affected countless lives over his 57 years, but sadly outside of music and cooking and generally being the sweetest heart on the planet, Chuck never understood the importance of planning ahead.
“He has left his lifelong partner, two daughters, and his grandson without the ability to send him off properly or to move into their next phase of life without their loved one. The Mosley and Logan family are asking for help to raise money for a small private memorial for family and friends to mourn their loss. Additionally, we would like to organize a large scale, loud, bright, beautiful concert to celebrate the music he gifted us with over the years.
“The memorial will be soon, so the family can say goodbye, but the concert will be planned far in advance, so that Chuck’s friends and family from all over the globe will have a chance to make the trek and share in the powerful event.
“Chuck deserves a unique and tasteful send off, followed by punk rock and as much chaos as we can legally get away with.”
At the time of writing, fans have chipped in $6,095 of the $7,000 target.
In a Facebook post in December 2014, Chuck revealed he had fallen on hard financial times and asked for help from his fans so that he and his family could avoid being evicted from the house he had lived in for the past decade.
Last August, Chuck reunited with Faith No More for two special gigs in San Francisco and Los Angeles to celebrate the reissue of their 1985 debut ‘We Care a Lot’.
Chuck Mosley replaced Courtney Love in Faith No More in 1983 and lent his vocals to both ‘We Care A Lot’ and 1987 follow-up ‘Introduce Yourself’ before being replaced by Mike Patton.
