Clapton Joins Wynton Marsalis On New Blues Album
The two musicians to release new live CD/DVD next month
Jazz trumpeter Wynton Marsalis teamed up with Clapton for a couple of shows in April at the Rose Theater at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at the Lincoln Center, New York. The duo and their band performed vintage blues and now the shows are to be released on CD and DVD next month.
Marsalis and Clapton Play The Blues is released on 12 September as a CD/DVD set and it includes performances of songs such as Louis Armstrong's "Ice Cream" and W.C. Handy's "Joe Turner's Blues", the travelling blues of "Joliet Bound" and the boogie-woogie jump of "Kidman Blues," plus a nearly unrecognisable rendition of 'Layla'.
