Christone 'Kingfish' Ingram surprise releases 'Live in London' album
It's available to buy now
Blues sensation Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram has surprise released a live album called ‘Live in London.’
Immortalising 24-year-old Kingfish’s show at The Garage, London in June of this year, ‘Live in London’ is available to stream and download now ahead of its release as a double CD on Friday 13th October and on double vinyl on Friday 10th November.
The 17-song collection boasts live renditions of the new songs ‘Midnight Heat’ and ‘Mississippi Night’, as well as a cover of Michael ‘Iron Man’ Burks’ ‘Empty Promises’.
You can watch the newly premiered video for previously unrecorded track ‘Midnight Heat’ right here:
“This album is a short lifetime in the making,” comments Kingfish. “I’ve long had an interest in recording a live album and I finally felt the timing was right.
“Not only do I have a deeper catalogue of music to choose from, but I also have been extensively touring with my band. Both of which truly made recording a live album smooth.
“Sprinkle in the opportunity to perform in a city I love, it’s all a no-brainer and something that makes me deeply proud.”
A description of Kingfish’s ‘Live in London’ reads: ‘Throughout the concert, Kingfish’s command over his instrument is awe-inspiring. He remains in the moment, at times raining down incendiary solos, other times picking poignant, blues-drenched licks, but always playing deeply from his heart.
‘Along with his versatile, tight-knit band – bassist Paul Rogers, drummer Christopher Black and keyboardist Deshawn Alexander – he brings intensity and honesty to each song, moving the audience from hushed disbelief to spontaneous, extended ovations.’
A firm favourite on Blues Power with Bernard Doherty, Kingfish supported The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park last summer before embarking on a five-date autumn UK tour.
Kingfish has released two studio albums in his glittering career so far – 2019’s ‘Kingfish’ and 2021’s ‘662’, which won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album.
Ingram has also recorded with include Eric Gales, Buddy Guy and Keb Mo, and shared the stage with Samantha Fish, Buddy Guy and Tedeschi Trucks Band to name but a few.
