Chili Peppers Hit The Studio
Band to record tenth studio album in July
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have started work on their brand new studio album.
Drummer Chad Smith told Music Radar that the band have twenty songs to work on for the follow up to 2006’s Stadium Arcadium and that they will be looking to put it out towards the end of the summer.
"We have a lot of material, probably about 20 songs," the drummer told MusicRadar.com. "Pre-production will take a few months, but I'd say by July we'll be laying down real tracks."
The band’s tenth studio album will once again be produced by Rick Rubin and will also see the debut of new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer after the departure of John Frusciante from the band earlier this year.
"We were sad to see John leave the band but he has to do what he wants and follow his path," Smith said. "Josh is a real creative force. He's going to play guitar, he's going to write music, he's going to sing and play keyboards. We're all thrilled to have Josh be part of the group."
Smith also reiterated Joe Satriani’s statement that the new Chickenfoot album will be recorded in the winter for an early 2011 release.
