Cheap Trick Ready To Record Again

Band are hoping to follow up last year\'s album sooner rather than later

Cheap Trick look set to head into the recording studio once more, despite releasing their most recent album, The Latest, less than 12 months ago.

In an interview with Billboard.com bassist Tom Petersson revealed that the band were starting the recording process already.

"We were just in Los Angeles and came up with 10 ideas that we're working on that are very strong contenders with producer Julien Raymond," Petersson tells Billboard.com. "That's how it works now. We just do it as it happens, when opportunities come up, just putting together ideas. And once you get 10 or 12 strong things it's like, 'Wow, we have the record!' "

2009’s The Latest has proved to be the band’s most successful album in 20 years, but according to Petersson that isn’t what inspires them to head into the studio anymore.

"We're not unrealistic about it," he acknowledges. "We don't have to make records; we just really enjoy doing it."

Cheap Trick are in the UK this winter for a rare tour on these shores. There are still a few tickets left for the shows.
