Rolling Stone reports that the movie, which is simply called CBGB, finished principle photography in August and the makers are currently putting the film together for a 2013 release.

The film tells the story of how owner Hilly Kristal offered bands playing original music in New York the chance to play at his Country, Bluegrass Blues & Other Music For Uplifting Gormandizers club (CBGB & OMFUG), leading to a generation of hugely influential alternative musicians such as Talking Heads, Ramones, Patti Smith and Television breaking into the mainstream.

The film stars Alan Rickman as Kristal, Malin Akerman as Debbie Harry, Rupert Grint as Cheetah Chrome of the Dead Boys and it will also feature an appearance from Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins as Iggy Pop.
