Bruce Springsteen to release autobiography
Bruce Springsteen has announced full details of his hugely anticipated autobiography.
Titled ‘Born To Run’, The Boss will release his memoirs on 27th September just a few days after his 67th birthday.
Six years in the making, Bruce started recounting his life story shortly after his historic Super Bowl performance with The E Street Band in 2009.
"Writing about yourself is a funny business," Bruce says. "But in a project like this, the writer has made one promise, to show the reader his mind. In these pages, I’ve tried to do this."
Described by Bruce himself as a story of "poetry, danger, and darkness", the pages contain details of his past in "disarming candour."
"This is the book we’ve been hoping for," said Jonathan Karp, publisher of Simon & Schuster. "Readers will see their own lives in Bruce Springsteen’s extraordinary story, just as we recognize ourselves in his songs."
"If you were to ask any publisher to name a cultural figure whose autobiography would provoke the greatest enthusiasm, Bruce Springsteen’s name would be on every list," said Ian Chapman, CEO of Simon & Schuster UK.
"Beyond being one of the most admired individuals in the world, he is a captivating storyteller with a unique way of expressing himself."
Born To Run will be published in hardcover, ebook and audio editions by Simon & Schuster in the US, UK Canada, Australia and India. The rights have also been sold to various publishers around the globe.
According to the New York Post, Bruce was paid a $10million advance for his story.
