Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have been forced to postpone four European shows due to Springsteen’s vocal issues.

Just a few hours before Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s concert at the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille on Saturday night (25th May), a statement was issued on The Boss’ official website confirming the show won’t be going ahead.

Alongside an apology to fans, the statement read: ‘Due to vocal issues and under doctor’s direction, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s concert this evening at the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille has been postponed to a later date.’

A day later, 74-year-old Springsteen confirmed that three more concerts have been postponed on doctor’s orders.

‘Following yesterday’s postponement in Marseille due to vocal issues, further examination and consulting has led doctors to determine that Bruce should not perform for the next ten days,’ the message read.

‘With this in mind, additional postponements are required for Airport Letnany in Prague (originally scheduled for May 28) and San Siro Stadium in Milan (originally scheduled for June 1 and 3). New dates for these shows will be announced shortly.’

Springsteen later posted a video update with the caption 'We'll be back!':

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s tour is currently set to resume at Madrid Civitas Metropolitan on Wednesday 12th June.

Last year, Springsteen was forced to postpone a clutch of North American tour dates due to a painful condition called peptic ulcer disease.

Following a rain-lashed gig in Sunderland, an audibly hoarse Bruce Springsteen attended The Ivor Novello Awards at London’s Grosvenor House last Thursday (23rd May) to pick up his coveted Academy Fellow award.

He’s the first-ever international songwriter that the Academy has inducted into Fellowship in its 80-year history.
