Bruce Dickinson to sell private jets in Harrods
The Iron Maiden frontman has teamed up with the department store to open a pop-up jet shop.
According to the Evening Standard, aircraft dealership Aeris Aviation, of which Dickinson is the current chairman, will be teaming up with the store to offer special-edition Harrods jets.
Dickinson is a keen pilot. In September 2013, he underwent his type rating training (an aviation industry certification) in an Eclipse jet by piloting himself to each venue throughout the Iron Maiden US tour. Clocking up over 50 hours worth of flying, Dickinson fell in love with the jet, which is known to be the world's most eco-friendly and economical twin engine business jet.
Bruce said, “There are no other twin engine jets that can come close to the Eclipse in terms of cost and economy and, with a range in excess of 1000nm, it is ideal for Europe. It is great to fly and I am excited by the future for this remarkable aircraft.”
Guy Cheston, director of Harrods Media, said: “Harrods has always prided itself on offering the most exclusive and unique products and the Aeris Eclipse 550 personal jet is certainly one to excite our discerning clientele.”
“We will be hosting the pop-up in-store for the month of August, where customers can meet experts from Aeris Aviation to find out more about this remarkable jet.”
The Eclipse launched in October 2013 and currently retails at $2.89 million. It will arrive customised with Harrods branding and buyers will get a $50,000 store card.
