The final song of his European tour
Bruce Dickinson performed an abbreviated version of the Iron Maiden epic ‘Alexander the Great’ in Athens, Greece on Sunday night (21st July).
Previously never performed live by the legendary English heavy metallers, ‘Somewhere in Time’ closer ‘Alexander the Great’ has been on Iron Maiden’s setlist on The Future Past Tour ever since the acclaimed trek kicked off in Slovenia in May 2023.
Iron Maiden didn’t visit Greece as part of their 33-date European tour, so Bruce Dickinson decided to close his gig at Release Athens Festival on Sunday with a shortened version of the track.
Clutching an Alexander the Great helmet, Bruce told the audience: "We couldn't go tonight knowing that we've never done this (song) ever in Greece because I know that you like this guy. And so I brought a special hat.
“And I thought you might like to do a little bit of singing, just for a couple of minutes, just at the end."

The festival performance in Athens was the final date of Bruce Dickinson’s extensive tour in support of his first solo album in 19 years, ‘The Mandrake Project.’
Bruce’s band consists of guitarists Philip Näslund and Chris Declercq, bassist Tanya O’Callaghan, drummer Dave Moreno, and keyboard maestro Mistheria.
After six weeks off for Bruce, Iron Maiden’s The Future Past Tour reconvenes in Australia, New Zealand and Japan in September, before hitting North America and South America.
