Brian May Picks Up Animal Charity Award

The Queen guitarist to go to the House Of Lords tomorrow

Queen’s Brian May is to pick up an award from the House Of Lords for his work in animal welfare.

May is being recognised by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) who praised his dedicated work to protect animals over many years.

Over recent years May has supported the Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue centre in Camberley and he set up the Save Me campaign, which ensures that the present laws protecting animals from cruelty are kept in place.

"Fighting for the welfare of our wild animals is not a task that any of us want to have to do,” says May. "We do it because these magnificent animals live, breathe, see, hear, and feel pleasure and pain like we do, but they do not speak our language, so in the world of humans, they have no voice. They have no way to speak out against the abuse being perpetrated against them."

May will pick up his award at the Animal Action Awards at the House of Lords on Tuesday.
