Poison's Bret Michaels has undergone heart surgery to repair a hole in his heart that was discovered last year while he underwent treatment for a brain haemorrhage.

Michaels underwent the surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix on Monday. It was said to be a success and the singer is now recovering.

The problem was discovered last year after a terrible year for illness and injuries for the glam metal star which saw him suffer a brain haemorrhage, appendicitis and a minor stroke.
