Bowie To Reissue Ziggy Stardust

The album is reissued on CD, DVD and vinyl on 4 June to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the album.

The CD is a new 2012 remaster of the original album, digitally remastered by Ray Staff, original mastering engineer for Ziggy at Trident Studios, and Ken Scott – the original co-producer. The LP is the new 2012 remaster of the original album on heavyweight 180g vinyl. 

And the DVD version contains the 2012 remaster (96/24 PCM stereo) PLUS Ken Scott's 2003 5.1 mixes (DTS 48/24 & Dolby Digital) and stereo fold downs (48/24 PCM), which includes the following 5.1 previously unreleased bonus tracks:

Velvet Goldmine 

Sweet Head

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reports that a proposed plaque on Heddon Street in London to honour the creation of Ziggy Stardust has been given the go-ahead by the City of Westminster.

In an original proposal from Westminster in 2005 it was proposed that: "The nomination for a commemorative plaque for Ziggy Stardust be approved, but in a colour other than green, subject to sponsorship in full, and to it not being included in the list of green plaques."

Westminster has now advised that: "The proposal to commemorate Ziggy Stardust and Heddon Street with a form of commemorative plaque is considered to be an imaginative and worthwhile one, and it is recommended that the nomination be approved, but that a different colour be chosen for the plaque, so that it is distinctive from the green plaques, and not listed within the green plaques scheme."

The commemorative  plaque cannot be in the traditional green colour due to the fact that the person, Ziggy Stardust, is an imaginary being, and his creator, David Bowie, is still alive (green plaques are only mounted on landmarks when the subject is deceased).
