Bowie is back!
David Bowie has revealed he is releasing a brand new album.
It will be his thirtieth long player and his first for ten years. The announcement comes on Bowie’s 66th birthday.
The new album is called ‘The Next Day’ and will be released on the 11th of March. It’s preceded by a single, ‘Where Are We Now’ which is available now on iTunes.
Bowie has once again collaborated with legendary producer Tony Visconti for his latest venture. Visconti is responsible for the production of many Bowie albums, most notably the classic so-called ‘Berlin Trilogy’ of ‘Low’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Lodger’ in the 1970’s. He also produced Bowie’s most recent work, ‘Reality ‘in 2002 and ‘Heathen’ in 2003.
Twitter and Bowie’s official Facebook page have gone into overdrive since the announcement. There’s been much media speculation in recent years as to whether he would ever release more music after a bout of ill health in 2003 which forced him to cancel a string of live shows. He has only appeared in public a handful of times since then, one of which was a stellar performance of ‘Arnold Layne’ and ‘Comfortably Numb’with David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall in 2006.
