Bono Surgery May Scupper U2 Dates

Frontman injures back in training / undergos emergency surgery

U2’s frontman Bono has undergone emergency surgery that may force the band to cancel dates on their US tour and their headline appearance at Glastonbury Festival.

On Friday Bono was forced to undergo surgery on his back after sustaining an injury whilst preparing to set out on tour.

The band were due to start rehearsals this week for the next leg of their 360 World Tour but after Bono was rushed into a Munich hospital on Friday for surgery he will be forced to spend some time recuperating before tour preparations can begin again in earnest.

The first date of the band’s tour in Salt Lake City (due to take place a week next Thursday) has already been postponed while other dates may have to be rearranged so that Bono can recuperate at home.

U2 are due to play their first ever Glastonbury Festival slot on Friday 25 June. No word yet on whether they will be able to make the date.

"Once his condition has been assessed further, a statement will be made regarding the impact on forthcoming tour dates,” said the band in a statement.
