Bono Begged Pixies To Record Again
U2 frontman wants a new album from alt-rockers
NME reports that a new album from the band, who split in 1993 and reformed in 2004, is looking more likely after half the band have spoken about their desire to record their first new record in nearly 20 years.
"Bono even asked... He's like, "Please make a record!"" said the band's guitarist Joey Santiago.
"Goddamn, we can't leave that unturned. That would frustrate me. It would. I think we should do it. But it's up to everybody."
In an interview with Spinner, drummer David Lovering revealed that the band had simply been happy to play shows since they reunited, adding that the touring had almost become "non-stop".
However, Santiago suggested that writing new songs might have caused "friction". Even so, he believes the four piece are now ready to put any problems behind them and begin working on a new album.
"That talk about making a record will be in the forefront next because it'll be time, you know. It'll be time. We've definitely gelled as a unit and hopefully when we can all bury the hatchet - and we have - maybe we'll go in there and hope for the best."
