Blackmore tells Billboard that the band's long overdue nomination for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame means nothing to him.

"Personally, I couldn't care less," the guitarist tells Billboard. "I would never go. I'm not really a fan of that stuff. Considering some of the people that are in the Hall of Fame, I'm not sure if it's a good idea, so I don't care one way or the other, actually.

"I think our fans seem to care more than I do," he adds. "They're always saying, 'You should be in the Hall of Fame. You should be in this, you should be in that...' If I can pay the bills, that's all I care about."

Deep Purple are amongst 15 nominees for induction alongside bands such as Rush, Heart and Joan Jett. The shortlist will be narrowed down to five acts who will be inducted into the Hall Of Fame in Cleveland at a ceremony in LA next April.

Blackmore is currently working on the eighth studio album by his Blackmore's Night alongside his wife Candice Knight.
