Black Sabbath to unleash 'Vol.4 Super Deluxe Edition' boxset
Featuring 20 unreleased studio and live recordings
Last updated 2nd Dec 2020
Black Sabbath’s fourth studio album ‘Vol.4’ is getting an expansive Super Deluxe Edition boxset release in early 2021.
Originally unleashed to the world in September 1972, ‘Vol.4’ boasts anthems including ‘Supernaut’, ‘Tomorrow’s Dream’, ‘Changes’ and ‘Snowblind’ and it was the first Black Sabbath album to be self-produced by the band after Rodger Bain helmed ‘Black Sabbath’, ‘Tomorrow’s Dream’, ‘Paranoid’ and ‘Master of Reality’. It was voted the sixth best Sabbath album of all time by our listeners in 2019.
Released on Friday 12th February 2021 on 4-CD and 5-LP (180-gram vinyl) boxset formats, ‘Vol.4 Super Deluxe Edition’ will feature a newly remastered version of the original album alongside a veritable smorgasbord of bonus material.

As a taster for the album, the remastered version of ‘Tomorrow’s Dream’ can be listened to right here:
The second CD and LP on ‘Vol.4 Super Deluxe Edition’ features six previously unreleased studio outtakes from the original sessions for ‘Vol.4’ that have been newly mixed by Steven Wilson using the analog multi-tracks.
The third disc is entitled Alternative Takes, False Starts & Studio Dialogue and comprises of 11 additional studio recordings that give an insight into Black Sabbath’s recording process.
‘Vol.4 Super Deluxe Edition’ concludes with the live disc ‘Live In The UK 1973’, which collates various UK performances from the Vol. 4 Tour almost half a century ago.
Mixed by Richard Digby Smith, alongside ‘Vol.4’ tracks, other live songs that feature include Sabbath classics ‘War Pigs’, ‘Paranoid’ and ‘Children of the Grave’.
