Black Sabbath announce 'Paranoid' vinyl reissue for 50th anniversary
The super-deluxe edition album will be released on the 9th October
Black Sabbath have announced that they are reissuing their iconic 1970 album 'Paranoid' on vinyl to celebrate its upcoming 50th anniversary.
The Birmingham-bred rock legends shared the news on social media yesterday that the album’s anniversary box-set will be released on 9th October.
‘Paranoid: Super Deluxe Edition’ will include an array of Black Sabbath material, spread across five-LPs. The first LP showcases the influential original album, including classic songs such as 'War Pigs', 'Planet Caravan', 'Iron Man' and of course, the title track, 'Paranoid'.
The second LP features a rare 1974 the second LP features a rare 1974 quadrophonic mix of the album, which has been “folded down” to stereo.
The remaining three LPs are made up of two live shows that the band played in the 1970's. One was recorded at the Casino de Montreux in Switzerland shortly before Paranoid was originally released, and the second was recorded at Theatre 140 in Brussels, Belgium, for the TV show Pop Shop.
Despite being widely bootlegged previously, this 50th anniversary re-issue marks the first time these live performances have been pressed on vinyl.
The special-deluxe edition set is also accompanied by a hardbound book featuring interviews with Black Sabbath band members, Ozzy Osborne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. There are also band photos, memorabilia, a poster, and a replica of the 'Paranoid' tour programme for fans to enjoy.

Black Sabbath released 'Paranoid' in late 1970, after the huge success of their self-titled debut. It became the first Black Sabbath album to top the U.K. charts and went on to sell more than four million copies in the U.S.
