Black Sabbath '50 Years' exhibition announced
An exhibition celebrating the legacy of Black Sabbath and their worldwide fan base is coming to Birmingham this summer.
Presented by Home of Metal, the career-spanning retrospective is simply entitled ‘50 Years’ and runs from 22nd June to 29th September at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
Featuring historical photos, ephemera, and memorabilia sourced directly from Black Sabbath themselves, the immersive exhibition will also boast portraits and stories from the Home of Metal fan archive.
Ozzy Osbourne comments: “It’s an honour to be a part of the Home of Metal. I am just a guy from Birmingham who’s been blessed to have had such dedicated fans throughout my career. Like I’ve always said ‘I am nothing without them.”
Tony Iommi says: "Fans are our lifeblood, they've always been there to support us.”
Ticket prices and on sale dates will be revealed soon.
The Home of Metal project is billed as a celebration of the heavy music that was born in Birmingham, and the official website features a digital archive of fan memorabilia and stories and a fans gallery.
Their exhibitions and events are billed as joining “the dots between music, social history, visual art and fan cultures to produce a new perspective on Heavy Metal.”
Tony Iommi revealed over the festive period that he is working on a remix of Black Sabbath’s critically savaged 1995 album ‘Forbidden’ and will release it later this year.
