Bingo! It's A New Steve Miller Band Record
First new studio record in 17 years due this summer
The Steve Miller Band are to release their first studio album for 17 years this June.
Recorded at film producer George Lucas’ infamous studios at Skywalker Ranch, Bingo! is the band’s first studio album in 17 years and will be released sometime towards the end of June (the US release date is slated for 15 June). It is released through a new partnership between Miller’s own Space Cowboy Records and Roadrunner/Loud & Proud.
"With the continuing evolution of the music industry and all the new exciting opportunities that are available, I feel this is a perfect time to start a new record company and establish new innovative partnerships. I am looking forward to a long relationship with Roadrunner / Loud & Proud” says Miller of the new endeavour.
Roadrunner Records President Jonas Nachsin comments "Loud & Proud has been gaining serious momentum in the past few months and now boasts a substantial roster with the addition of the incredible Steve Miller Band. Roadrunner is thrilled to be marketing an artist of Steve’s legendary status along with our own diverse rock roster.”
Bingo! was co-produced by Andy Johns (Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Van Halen), with artwork designed by the legendary Storm Thorgerson. The recordings feature longtime Steve Miller Band member Norton Buffalo, who sadly passed away in 2009.
"It's a great group of songs, and it gives us a lot of new material to play," Miller told Billboard. "I'm excited about releasing some new music for the audience and for my band and for me to play. This material we're just releasing now we've been working on stage for the last couple of years and it's been going over really, really well and it's just worked out that now seemed like a good time to release a record.”
The album is actually one of TWO brand new records that we’ll be seeing from the Steve Miller Band in the near future, with a companion piece to Bingo! already recorded and due to be released in 2011.
Europe will also see live shows from SMB towards the end of 2010.
