Biff Byford posts video update & shares exciting Saxon album news
Biff Byford has posted a video update about his health and has confirmed Saxon have commenced work on their 23rd studio album.
Last month Saxon announced the postponement of all their 2019 shows, including their trio of UK concerts, as Biff needed an emergency triple bypass operation on his heart.
All three October UK dates have now been rearranged for March 2020 with the planned Glasgow date moving from the Braehead Arena to Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom.
After writing a thank you message to fans from his hospital bed on 28th September, this afternoon (9th October) Biff posted his first video message since the major operation.
“I want to thank everybody for the brilliant messages you’ve sent. Brilliant. Thank you very much (it’s) cheered me up – some of the funny ones were great,” Biff says in the clip.
“I’m feeling ok, I’m really sore obviously from the operation and (my) breathing is still a bit dodgy sometimes but apart from that I’m getting better and better every day. So, I go for walks every day a little bit longer so that should be good.”
After confirming the Glasgow show has now switched venues and explaining the reasons behind the change, Biff revealed that Saxon have started work on their 23rd studio album; the follow-up to February 2018’s ‘Thunderbolt’.
“We’ve got Nigel (Glockler) has started drums on our next album this week in Germany,” Biff explained.
“Next week Paul (Quinn) and Doug (Scarratt) start doing the guitars and the plan is for me to start doing vocals around January, February and that will help me into for the shows coming up (in March).”
“I’ve got some solo album news coming soon – it’s finished – but I’ll not tell you about that today.”
