Axl Rose Countersues Former Manager

Axl goes up against management company over claims of sabotage

Axl Rose is suing his former manager, accusing him of trying to implement a scheme to force him to reunite with the original Guns N' Roses band members and, as part of the plot, failed to properly promote the "Chinese Democracy" album, lied about a prospective Van Halen super tour and mishandled the band's tour dates.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that in a suit filed yesterday against Irving Azoff's Front Line Management Rose claims that his management tried to sabotage the Chinese Democracy album so that Guns N Roses would fail, and Rose would be forced to reunite the original line-up of the band to make some money.

According to the filing, "Upon realizing that he couldn't bully Rose and accomplish his scheme, Azoff resigned and abandoned Guns N Roses on the eve of a major tour, filing suit for commissions he didn't earn and had no right to receive."

Axl says the botched tour cost him money in production and rehearsal expenses. Claiming breach of fiduciary duty, constructive fraud and breach of contract, Rose wants at least $5 million in damages.

Rose’s lawsuit follows a suit filed by Irving Azoff's Front Line Management which is claiming earnings from GNR’s South American tour.

Rose and Azoff parted company some time last year and GNR apparently hired Doc McGhee, a veteran rock manager whose clients over the years have included KISS, Bon Jovi and Mötley Crüe.
