Atomic Rooster's John Du Cann Dies

The band\'s former guitarist passes away

Published 26th Sep 2011

Du Cann was a member of the band's so called "classic" line-up which recorded the early 70s albums albums 'Devil Walks Behind You' and 'In Hearing Of Atomic Rooster', writing the hit single 'Devils Answer' in the process. He also re-joined the band to record the self-titled Atomic Rooster album in 1980.

Outside of Atomic Rooster Du Cann was briefly a touring guitarist for Thin Lizzy and he worked with Status Quo's Francis Rossi on his own solo album, The World's Not Big Enough in 1977.

He had a solo hit single in 1979 with 'Don't Be A Dummy, which peaked at number 33 in the UK singles charts.

Du Cann sadly passed away last week of a suspect heart attack.
