Andy Johns Dies
Producer & Engineer who worked with some of rock's finest passes away at 61.
Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix were just some of the artists gracing Andy John's resume. Guitarist Stacy Blades confirmed the news of his death, as Blades was working with the producer on an untitled project.
No cause of death has been officially released yet, although it is understood that "liver trouble" was the reason for the producer's hospitalization last week.
Twitter has quickly flooded with tribute tweets. Drummer Chad Smith tweeted that Johns had created "some of my favorite all time records". Former Deep Purple and Black Sabbath member Glenn Hughes called him "larger than life", while Go-Gos member Kathy Valentine advised her 11,000 followers to "Crank up #ExileOnMainStreet and help send his soul off to the big mixing board in the sky."

Of his production technique, Johns emphasised that he aimed to "make it sound as if you are in the best rehearsal that the band ever did, and you are about 12 feet back from the stage, in a nice rehearsal place...You're supposed to be there and feel them playing."
Johns is survived by his two sons, Will and Evan, who followed him into the music business.
