Allman Brothers Band Call It Quits After 45 Years

Following the earlier news that guitarists Warren Haynes and Dereck Trucks would be leaving the band, Gregg Allman has revealed that he is putting an end to the band that he helped found back in 1969.

Allman says:

“This is it—this is the end of it… 45 years is enough and I want to do something else, anyway. Everyone has their own real good perspective bands.”

Good news for fans of the Allmans comes in the form of Warren Haynes’ continued work as the leader of Gov’t Mule and Gregg Allman’s plans to release two solo records this year, one with legendary producer T Bone Burnett.

It’s still possible to see the band this year before they split, as long as you’re willing to make the trip to New York City that is. They are holding a residency there at the Beacon Theatre throughout March.
