Alice Cooper to reunite with original band members on UK tour!
Planet Rock’s shock-rock extraordinaire, Alice Cooper, has announced he will be performing a special set with his original band on his upcoming UK dates.
It’s been confirmed this morning that bassist Dennis Dunaway, drummer Neal Smith and guitarist Michael Bruce will play a mini-set on the five-date November 2017 arena tour alongside a full performance from Alice and his current band.
After performing together at a record store in Dallas in October 2015 to mark the release of Dennis’s autobiography ‘Snakes! Guillotines! Electric Chairs!: My Adventures in the Alice Cooper Group’, on 14th May of this year Alice, Dennis, Neal and Michael played a five-song set at Tennessee Performing Arts Center's Andrew Jackson Hall.
After his obligatory beheading by a guillotine, Alice, wearing a fetching gold snakeskin jacket, and co. tore through a mini-set that featured ‘I’m Eighteen’, ‘Billion Dollar Babies’, ‘No More Mr. Nice Guy’ and ‘Muscle of Love.’
The encore of ‘Schools Out’ saw the vintage line-up unite with Alice’s current band consisting of guitarists Ryan Roxie and Tommy Henriksen, plus bassist Chuck Garric and drummer Glen Sobel for an emphatic finale.
Alice and the original band have also co-written and recorded two songs together - ‘Genuine American Girl’ and ‘You And All Of Your Friends’ – on Alice’s fervently awaited new album ‘Paranormal’, which lands on Friday 28th July via earMUSIC.
Explaining how they reunited, Alice says: “When the original band broke up in 1975, there was no bad blood. There were no lawsuits—we had just burned out the creative process. We had gone to high school together and had recorded something like five Platinum albums in a row.
“We were never out of sight of each other for 10 years. Everybody just went their own way. Neal, Dennis and I always stayed in touch. Mike disappeared for a while and Glen Buxton passed away in 1997, which was a big blow.
“But last year Neal called me up and said, ‘I have a couple of songs.’ I said great, bring ‘em over. Then he said Mike was stopping by, so I had them come to my house and we just worked on a few things for a week.
“Then Dennis called up and said, I got a couple songs. So, I thought, hey let’s do this! When you listen to the record, it just fits right in.”
