Alice Cooper Finishing Up Recording of Covers Album

As announced recently, Alice Cooper will be the special guest on Mötley Crüe‘s farewell tour, which kicks off in the US in July. Meanwhile, Cooper has revealed that by the time he hits the road with the Crüe, his fans should be able to hear his new album.

Cooper says the album, which will be his first covers album, will be out in the Spring. The covers will be chosen from the members of an informal drinking club in the 60s and 70s, known as the Hollywood Vampires, that Alice was a part of.

Cooper says: “It’s basically all my dead, drunk friends, I’m covering all my friends that I used to drink with that aren’t with us anymore”.

Some of these friends he says he used to frequent Los Angeles-area bars with include The Doors‘ Jim Morrison, The Who‘s Keith Moon, Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon.

“That’s just four of ‘em,” he adds. “When you get down to Harry Nilsson and T. Rex, all the other guys that we used to drink with, then you can start picking some pretty good songs for a covers album.”

Speaking about whether the record will feature some famous guests, Alice added “It’s gonna be all guests. Some of my backing band, but…almost all guests, and a really, really great bunch of guests…I’m really excited about this album.”
