Alice Cooper to be honoured with street named after him

A street in Alice Cooper’s birth state of Michigan is being named after the shock rock legend.
Planet Rock’s very own Alice Cooper will attend the unveiling of Alice Cooper Court at 12.30pm local time tomorrow (Thursday 23rd September) at former psychiatric hospital-turned tourist attraction the Eloise Asylum, once the United State's largest psychiatric facility.
Located at 30712 Michigan Avenue in the city of Westland, Michigan, Alice Cooper Court is just a few miles away from Alice's hometown Detroit.
US presenter Big Jim O'Brien from the classic rock radio station WCSX-FM will host the ceremony. Alice is the third rock star to be honoured with a street name by WCSX following the previously unveiled Bob Seger Boulevard and Glenn Frey Drive.
Big Jim O'Brien enthuses: “From Glenn Frey Drive to Bob Seger Blvd, we’ve tried to celebrate great local musicians.
“But NEVER has an artist and location made more sense than Alice Cooper Court at Eloise Asylum. We can’t wait to celebrate Alice here in the Motor City!”
To celebrate the dedication, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland, Ohio is adding an official Alice Cooper Court street sign to its Legends of Rock exhibit. The exhibition also features Alice’s original electric chair, and costumes worn on stage over the decades.
Nwaka Onwusa from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame said: “We are thrilled to add the official street sign to our exhibit as we celebrate Alice Cooper’s legacy with fans and share stories behind the music he created.”
Alice Cooper was born Vincent Damon Furnier in Detroit in February 1948 just 16 miles down the road from Westland. He lived in Motor City during his formative years until his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona.
Earlier this year, Alice released his 28th studio album ‘Detroit Stories’, which pays musical homage to his Detroit roots.

The six-date tour opens at Swansea Arena on Monday 23rd May 2022 and then calls in at London The O2, Manchester AO Arena, Glasgow The SSE Hydro and Birmingham Resorts World Arena before culminating at Leeds First Direct Arena on Wednesday 1st June 2022.
