Al Murray - New Presenter!

Planet Rock is thrilled to announce that Britain's favourite landlord will be joining our lineup!

Published 7th May 2013

Al will present a Sunday morning show from 10-12 called Defender of the Planet Rock Tradition. His first broadcast will be on May 26th.

Regular features in the show will include:

Universal Riffs of Power - celebrating classic guitar riffs,

Let There Be Drums - hailing the best drum beats in rock

Re-issue, Re-release, Re-born - looking at the week’s big re-release.

Currently on his new UK tour, Al is best known to the British public as his alter-ego 'The Pub Landlord', entertaining audiences with his numerous TV appearances, broadcasts and as a sold-out live act.

"As the world faces a relentless assault of cardboard cut-out pop, Planet Rock is the last bastion of amps, riffs and axes, it's an honour to be asked to do my bit" he said.

What lovers of Al's stand-up routines may not be aware of is his extensive rock credentials. He is a member of band T-34, and as their drummer has performed twice at Download, as well as the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Al successfully argued that Led Zeppelin were the world's greatest rock band on BBC2's I'm In A Rock n' Roll Band and realised a personal dream when he performed with Phil Collins on Happy Hour.

Catch Defender of the Planet Rock Tradition on Sunday, May 26th at 10am on Planet Rock!
