Aerosmith's Joe Perry cancels upcoming tour on doctor's orders
Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has cancelled his upcoming North American tour dates on the advice of doctors.
Joe was due to play a 10-date tour with his Aerosmith band mate Brad Whitford and Extreme’s Gary Cherone later this month and in early December but will now be taking the rest of the year off.
The rock icon experienced shortness of breath and collapsed backstage just minutes after he performed ‘Walk This Way’ with Billy Joel at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Saturday 10th December.
Paramedics attended to Joe for 40 minutes backstage and placed a tracheal tube down his throat to clear his air path, before he was taken to hospital.
He remained in hospital for six days before being discharged last Friday (16th November). The cause of Joe’s illness hasn’t been revealed.

Informing fans of his axed shows, Joe wrote: “Just wanted to thank everyone for all of the kind messages I’ve received this week.
“I’m home and doing well but the doctor recommends a bit more downtime before getting out to rock again, so regrettably I had to cancel my upcoming tour dates.
“(I) was really looking forward to playing these shows with Brad and Gary and seeing all of you who were planning to come out and support us. We will be back out as soon as possible.
“Wishing you all happy holidays and looking forward to seeing you in 2019.”
In July 2016 Joe was hospitalised after taking ill at a Hollywood Vampires show at the Ford Amphitheater in Brooklyn.
Although unscrupulous gossip magazines and tabloids claimed Joe had a suspected heart attack, Joe was suffering from dehydration and exhaustion at the time. He returned to the stage with Hollywood Vampires 12 days later.
