Aerosmith's farewell tour halted after three shows due to Steven Tyler's bleeding vocal cords
Ouch
Aerosmith’s swansong tour has hit the brakes after just three shows as frontman Steven Tyler is suffering from vocal cord damage.
The 40-date Peace Out farewell tour opened at Philadelphia Wells Fargo Center on Saturday 2nd September, and Aerosmith have since played shows at Pittsburgh PPG Paints Arena and Belmont Park UBS Arena.
Ahead of their planned fourth show at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena tonight (12th September), Steven Tyler has issued a statement to fans confirming that Aerosmith’s remaining concerts this month have been postponed until January and February 2024.
“I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days,” Tyler said.
“I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve.”
The itinerary for the rescheduled shows is as follows:
JANUARY 2024
Detroit Little Caesars Arena – Mon 29th
FEBRUARY 2024
Chicago United Center – Wed 14th
Washington Capital One Arena – Sat 17th
Toronto Scotiabank Arena – Wed 21st
Raleigh PNC Arena – Mon 26th
Cleveland Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse – Thu 29th
Aerosmith’s gargantuan Peace Out farewell tour still features another 37 dates throughout October, November, December and into 2024.
Celebrating 50 years as band, the final tour also features The Black Crowes as special guests on the bill.
When the tour was announced, Aerosmith said: “"After 50 years, 10 world tours and playing for over 100 million fans, it's time for one last go.
“It’s not goodbye it’s PEACE OUT! Get ready and walk this way, you’re going to get the best show of our lives.”
It’s currently unclear whether there will be any UK and international dates on Aerosmith’s farewell tour. The band were due to play the UK last summer, however they cancelled their entire European trek.
Commenting on the absence of drummer Joey Kramer, Aerosmith said: "While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has regrettably made the decision to sit out the currently scheduled touring dates to focus his full attention on his family and health. Joey's unmistakable and legendary presence behind the drum kit will be sorely missed."
